ADDITIONAL TRAINING

We provide a comprehensive rescue qualification and thus include DAN Diving Emergency Management Provider (DEMP) course along with First Aid & Basic Life Support (EFR).

  • These courses trains divers in the knowledge and skills needed to manage risks and effectively handle limited in-water problems and diving emergencies.
  • You will learn to recognize and manage stress in other divers, rescue panicked divers and rescue unresponsive divers both on the surface and at depth.
  • Divers will gain increased comfort and confidence by understanding how to recognize and prevent stress.

A diving emergency is rarely a single event. More often than not, separate small problems can compound into a larger emergency. Alpha Dive Academy’s Rescue Dive course combines 7 courses into 1:

  • SSI Stress and Rescue or PADI Rescue Diver
  • SSI React Rite or PADI Emergency First Aid Responder (EFR)
  • DAN Diving Emergency Management Provider (DEMP)
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • O2 provider
  • Advanced O2 provider
  • Hazardous Marine Life Injuries (HMLI)

With oxygen enriched air, scuba divers can enjoy longer dive times and shorter surface interval times between dives. This qualification is essential for dive holidays such as a Redsea Safari where repetitive dives are done over multiple days.

  • To learn techniques for getting more dive time by using enriched air nitrox.
  • To know the enriched air scuba diving equipment considerations.
  • To understand enriched air considerations, including managing oxygen exposure, how to tell what’s in your scuba tank and how to set your dive computer.

There are several reasons why divers need to go deeper: exploration, diving wrecks that came to rest in deeper water, the adventure of diving deeper and of course, the challenge! To dive deeper however, the proper training must be taken.

  • To learn techniques for diving in the deeper range of 18-40 meters, considering deep scuba diving equipment considerations and adjustments.
  • To gain experience in planning, organizing, and making at least three deep dives under the supervision of an instructor in varying environments e.g., sea or quarry, shore-based or boat diving, reef or wreck

Navigation can be challenging, but in the Underwater Navigator Specialty course, you master the challenge. You learn the tools of the trade, including navigation via natural clues and by compass, both essential underwater skills in a dive location such as the Cape where shore-entries are the norm and divers need to return to their starting point… in sometimes less than desirable visibility!

  • Study navigation patterns
  • Acquire a sense of natural navigation (without a compass)
  • Learn about compass navigation
  • To know how to “mark” or relocate a submerged object or position from the surface
  • Be introduced to underwater map making
  • To learn how to estimate distance underwater

This Personal Watercraft Course licenses you to operate jet-skis globally. It also forms part of the steppingstone license towards your PW Instructor license. The deck crew is often tasked to entertain the yacht owners and their kids/guests on the PW’s/jet-skis. A vital license to hold for your duties on board, as well as employment.

This course is essential for all crew (Deckhands, Engineers, Steward/esses and Chefs). Superyacht guests are regularly ferried/tendered between the yachts and the shore. It is imperative that the crew hold this license for all tender driving duties required. We strive to keep the highest standard on this one.

This course covers all aspects of powerboat driving.

  • Close quarters handling
  • Planing maneuvers
  • Man overboard recovery
  • Anchoring
  • Collision regulations
  • Fueling
  • Navigation and compass
  • Buoyage, etc.

On successful completion, the students are issued the RYA Power Boat Level II Certificate/License card.
